PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in the aerospace industry to hire an experienced and innovative Design Engineer focused on aircraft structural repairs and airworthiness solutions. In this role, you’ll support in-service airline fleets by developing high-quality repair solutions for aircraft structures. Working alongside stress, fatigue, and design engineering teams, you’ll help ensure aircraft remain safe, compliant, and operational while delivering timely engineering support to airlines and maintenance organizations.
What You’ll Do
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Develop structural repair solutions for metallic and non-metallic aircraft components
Perform simple and routine engineering analyses to validate repair tasks
Review and interpret aircraft structural damage reports from Maintenance Repair Organizations (MROs)
Collaborate with Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT), Design, and other engineering teams to create optimal repair solutions
Create and revise technical documentation including:
Technical Communications
Technical Dispositions
Repair Instructions
Repair Drawings
Utilize engineering applications and tools to research aircraft configurations and support repair development
Provide guidance and responses to repair-related technical inquiries from internal teams and customers
Prioritize assignments effectively and communicate project status, solutions, and technical concerns clearly
Support airworthiness requirements and customer operational needs with efficient engineering solutions
Required Qualifications
Education
Experience
Minimum 5 years of design engineering experience in:
Experience interpreting engineering drawings and bill of material systems
Knowledge of aircraft maintenance repair shop practices, tooling, and capabilities
Technical Skills
Strong computer proficiency including:
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
Ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures and engineering documentation
Ability to create technical reports and business correspondence
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Additional Requirements
Dependable, self-motivated, and collaborative work style
Ability to work effectively in office-based engineering environments
Ability to travel domestically up to 10, with limited international travel possible
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience supporting airline in-service fleets
Familiarity with Company engineering tools and repair processes
Experience collaborating with stress analysis or fatigue engineering teams
Aerospace repair design or airworthiness support experience
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Hybrid schedule with onsite presence required at least 60 of the time in the Wichita Engineering Office
Ability to work for extended periods on computers and engineering applications
Ability to read engineering drawings, reports, and technical documentation daily
Ability to travel independently on short notice when required
Ability to lift or carry up to 30 lbs occasionally
Ability to work in office and production support environments as needed

Pay Details: $1.00 per hour
