What You Can Expect

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director, Certification & Engineering Project Management to lead enterprise-wide engineering project execution and certification efforts. This role owns the standardization and performance of all engineering project management across our sites—ensuring delivery of data packages, FAA approvals, and cross-functional alignment for STC and major modification events. The Director will work in direct partnership with the Director, Engineering to align certification deliverables with technical execution across all West Star locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all engineering project management and certification efforts across West Star’s MRO sites, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and quality.
• Direct multi-site execution of STC, major repair/alteration, PMA, and ODA projects from kickoff to delivery.
• Serve as primary liaison for FAA ACO, MIDO, and ODA engagement; represent West Star in certification strategy and audits.
• Build and manage enterprise-wide engineering project schedules, resource plans, risk mitigations, and customer alignment.
• Standardize project management practices, engineering templates, and certification workflows across engineering teams and platforms.
• Partner closely with the Director, Engineering and cross-functional teams (Quality, Program Management, Sales, Design, and Operations) to integrate engineering deliverables into operational flow.
• Mentor project managers, engineers, and ODA team members; actively develop internal DER/ODA candidate pipeline.
• Monitor regulatory changes (FAA, EASA, TCCA) and guide proactive compliance strategies.
• Support strategic initiatives including ODA reinstatement, international validations, and portfolio growth.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of certification engineering and project management experience within Part 145, OEM, or ODA environments.
• Demonstrated success managing multi-site teams, complex STC programs, and FAA engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing PMO practices or project governance within engineering.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Track record of cross-functional leadership and scaling project capacity.
• Familiarity with both design and compliance elements of certification engineering.

The Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers in the state of Colorado to disclose the following information. If the position applied to is not located in Colorado, the following information may not apply. Salary range for this position generally ranges from $150,000-$190,000. Actual salary will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other forms of compensation include a semiannual discretionary bonus based on performance, as well as health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid vacation.
