I

n this position the Intern will be responsible for the design and development of electronic controls and printed wiring board assemblies used in electric systems for military and commercial aircraft. The applicant will apply principles and techniques of electrical/electronic engineering to ensure design preparation is in accordance with applicable specifications, customer requirements and standard work practices; interfaces with various functional groups to coordinate design and engineering documentation releases, development testing, qualification testing, and entry into service. You will spend time working in a laboratory. This role is onsite, in Rockford, IL. This role may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:

• You will work on preliminary and detailed design.
• You will work on development and qualification testing.
• You will prepare design, data and analysis in accordance with program requirements and customer specifications.
• You will determine and prepare procedures for testing products, documents result of design studies, trade studies, and failure analyses.
• You will provide technical assistance to manufacturing as required.

What You Will Learn:

• You will learn Aerospace Design Processes used for certifying flying electronics.
• You will learn how to work in a lab environment.
• You will learn how to write test procedures, testing, and report writing.
• You will learn to troubleshoot hardware.
• You will learn Configuration Management of Engineering documentation.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Familiarity with Microsoft products such as Word and Excel
• Familiarity with reading schematics.
• An understanding of analog and digital circuits
• Familiarity with working in a lab environment and with test equipment such as volt meters, o-scopes, power supplies, etc.
• An understanding of electronic circuit analysis is desirable.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
