Schedule: 1st Shift — options include 7–4, 7:30–4:30, 8–5, or 8:30–5:30
Pay Rate: Open to negotiation based on experience (Starting point: $82.04/hour)
About the RoleAs an Electrical Engineer supporting high‑voltage substation projects, you will play a key role in advancing critical energy infrastructure for electric utilities, including work aligned with PG&E standards and renewable power generation. Your technical expertise will directly support safe, reliable, high‑performance systems across a diverse set of utility and renewable energy applications.
What You’ll DoLead and execute engineering tasks for Transmission & Distribution substation projects, including outdoor primary physical substation design.
Develop high‑quality engineering deliverables such as:
Power single‑line diagrams
Substation plan and elevation drawings
General arrangement layouts
Equipment erection drawings and construction details
High‑voltage bus, cable, conduit, wiring, auxiliary power, grounding, and control building layouts
Perform engineering studies, calculations, and analyses in accordance with IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, and local grid codes.
Support projects across both AIS and GIS substation systems.
Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance throughout project phases.
Review and seal engineering designs (if PE‑licensed); mentor and supervise junior engineers when applicable.
Participate in site visits, design reviews, and field support activities (travel ~20).
Required QualificationsMinimum 7 years of experience in T&D substation engineering for electric utilities.
Demonstrated experience with PG&E standards and/or renewable energy power plant projects.
Strong proficiency in producing detailed substation design drawings and layouts.
In‑depth knowledge of North American HV substation standards, including IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution (BSEE strongly preferred).
Professional Engineering (PE) license in the U.S. or a clear plan to obtain one within a defined timeframe.
Preferred QualificationsExperience working in both Air‑Insulated (AIS) and Gas‑Insulated (GIS) substation environments.
Prior experience supporting large utility clients, especially within California.
Strong communication, leadership, and technical review skills.

Pay Details: $82.04 per hour
