Position Summary

The Engineer Maintenance Programs will report to the Manager of Maintenance Programs on the Engineering team in Technical Operations (Tech Ops). Maintenance Programs is responsible for development and optimization of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved Aircraft Maintenance Program. Our mission is to provide a safe, compliant and reliable aircraft to every customer, every flight, and every day. The Engineer Maintenance Programs will help develop the maintenance requirements for the JetBlue fleet.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Progressively develop and optimize the FAA approved Maintenance Programs for the JetBlue fleet.
  • Continuously analyze reliability data and maintenance task findings and recommend improvements to the maintenance program that improve reliability and maximize aircraft availability.
  • Participate in monthly reliability meetings. Analyze trends and identify gaps in the maintenance program.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Planning to optimize maintenance check packages.
  • Customize maintenance program tasks and task cards to suit the JetBlue operation.
  • Develop and prototype new maintenance tasks and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Review Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Maintenance Planning Document (MPD) revisions and evaluate for incorporation into the JetBlue Maintenance Program.
  • Evaluate and disposition Airworthiness Directives (ADs) applicable to the JetBlue fleet.
  • Maintain Maintenance Program Tasks and ADs in the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) System via Engineering Controls.
  • Represent JetBlue at Industry Steering Committee (ISC) and Maintenance Working Group (MWG) meetings to collaborate and evolve the maintenance program.
  • Develop Maintenance Program department processes and assist with continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Equivalent Technical Degree; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in the aviation or aerospace industry
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to independently plan, coordinate, and execute projects with minimal supervision
  • Strong written, research, analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend technical and regulatory documents
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Licenses
  • Working knowledge of OEM documents including Maintenance Review Board Report (MRBR), Maintenance Planning Document (MPD), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC), and Service Bulletin (SB)
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Steering Group-3 (MSG-3) Process and Reliability Analysis
  • Knowledge of Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and the disposition of engineering documents
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s) pertaining to 121 Air Carrier operations
  • Knowledge of TRAX

 

     Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  •  Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understanding how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

     Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $75,000.00 and $118,400.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
