Job Description Lead and perform Quality Assurance activities for engineering design, hardware development and systems analysis for individual component level, sub-system level to system level test and integration, for all lifecycle phases. May work in any of the multiple engineering or technical fields of specialty.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You’ll Do:
- Work as a lead member of a program team during all phases of the lifecycle assessing the planning for and implementation of the process for compliance with good engineering practices.
- Participates in technical reviews, such as design and milestone reviews, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and quality standards. Provide input on risk mitigation and program documentation, integrating quality assurance processes into the program design and execution activities. Tracks changes and issues to ensure they are addressed systematically.
- Audit, monitor, evaluate, and report on subcontractor activities.
- Interface and lead a broad range of program personnel including design, manufacturing, inspection and test engineering on Quality policies and principles.
- Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities. Monitor supplier and manufacturing performance, perform design. Make recommendations for both manufacturing process and design improvements.
- Work as a lead member of a program team during all phases of the lifecycle assessing the planning for and implementation of the process for compliance with good engineering practices.
- Chair the Material Review Board (MRB) for programs with knowledge of dispositions, MRB authority, and compliance with customer flowed requirements; track MRB items; Lead the resolution of complex quality issues.
- Review program documentation, ensuring requirements compliance, adherence to BAE Systems standards, risk mitigation, and completeness.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation.
- Compile data and evaluate designs to determine adequacy and completeness of the product including the engineering effectiveness, ensuring the producibility of BAE Systems products.
- Lead manufacturing activities utilizing lean six sigma principles; Collaborate with production teams to integrate quality standards into manufacturing operations including manufacturing process plan reviews and shop order generation.
- Coordinate and direct tasking of other Quality Assurance (QA) staff on a program.
- Mentor and train junior colleagues within the organization.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
