The Structural Engineer is responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing engineering specifications related to the structural integrity of components composed of metallic, non-metallic, or composite materials. This work supports both product design and operational requirements, spanning systems such as mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, powerplant, armament, heating, ventilation, and equipment maintenance. Core responsibilities include evaluating damage tolerance, durability, and design allowables, as well as performing structural modeling and analysis. Structural specialties may encompass dynamics and loads, stability, stress fatigue, and thermal analysis. Tools and platforms utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, Pro/ENGINEER, and a range of other engineering software applications.
Ability to read drawings.
Ability to interpret OEM process specifications.
Ability to interpret OEM material specifications.
Ability to calculate material requirements & material utilization for the purpose of creating manufacturing bills of materials.
Understanding manufacturing processes.
Know and understand company and department policies and safety procedures.
Develop basic data and make preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal
Investigate and resolve structural problems by identifying defects on the parts and writing structural repairs (ERs-Engineering Repair Procedures) that will be approved by a DER engineer.
