Were seeking a collaborative, action-oriented leader to support the EES Product Manager for spacecraft avionics and payload control, mechanism, and sensor electronics products (80 of position). In addition, this leader will be working with the other Engineering Managers to hire and expand the EES Organization to meet the growing business needs (20 of position). This position requires a desire to lead people, contribute to daily execution activities, and a desire to improve the way BAE Systems, Inc. executes. This person will work closely with the EES Director and the other EES Engineering Managers.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. What You’ll Do:
- Responsibility for all aspects of the assigned products, to include technology maturation planning, product lifecycle management, strategy, development, production, financial cost performance.
- Leads and directs cross functional work and teams to support product development strategy.
- Work with chief architect to develop Concept of Operations (CONOPS) to drive product requirements.
- Provide core product team leadership to enable successful transition through the product lifecycle: design concepts, requirements, development, validation, and rate production. Including support to ERBs and CCBs.
- Engage in Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects to understand synergies for the creation of products to support product launch.
- Represent the voice of the customer throughout the development process.
- Create long term planning horizon to add depth to existing product mixture and expand into adjacent product markets.
- Defining and shaping product design reuse adoption strategy.
- Define teams, tools and processes needed to enable product development strategy.
- Support other Engineering Managers in growing the capacities and capabilities of the EES organization to meet the business needs. Including working with Programs and Supply Chain to create SOWs aligned with work scope, identifying, and selecting Engineering Services suppliers.
- Communicate relevant higher-level information to department personnel.
- Provide mentoring to lower-level leaders.
- Make defendable decisions, often with minimal information, and then re-evaluate, adapt, and update as things evolve and change.
- Identify IRAD and company overhead improvement efforts that would benefit our programs and our teams, and secure funding for these activities.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. Opportunity for hybrid work schedule once established in the position.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
