Our Apprenticeship Program
The Engineering Technician Apprenticeship is a structured, multi-year training program designed to develop skilled technicians through a combination of on-the-job training and related technical instruction.
Apprentices progress through a formal training plan that builds core engineering knowledge, workshop skills, and hands-on experience supporting the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aerospace components. Throughout the program, apprentices are supported by experienced technicians, mentors, and supervisors as they grow in technical capability and confidence.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Apprentice – Engineering Technician, you will:
- Observe, learn, and apply a wide range of engineering skills and manufacturing processes under the guidance of experienced technical colleagues
- Progressively demonstrate competence by working independently and as part of a team as training advances
- Support maintenance, repair, overhaul, and assembly activities for aerospace products
- Learn to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and verbal instructions to a high degree of precision
- Develop skills to construct, modify, or assemble components using appropriate tools and equipment
- Maintain workshop tools and equipment and ensure they remain in good working condition
- Complete all required classroom instruction and successfully achieve academic and practical requirements associated with the apprenticeship
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
- Keep accurate training and learning records throughout the duration of the apprenticeship
- Maintain good housekeeping standards and a professional appearance at all times
- Uphold Ontic’s values and contribute positively to the team and workplace culture
Who We’re Looking For:We’re looking for motivated, dependable individuals who are eager to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term career in aerospace manufacturing. Successful apprentices demonstrate curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality while working in a team-oriented, hands-on environment.Education / Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to meet eligibility requirements for a registered apprenticeship program in New York State
- Willingness to complete required classroom instruction in conjunction with on-the-job training

Compensation Pay Range
Starting at $19/hour, with scheduled pay increases tied to continued employment. This position includes paid training and may offer education-related support for eligible candidates.
