Job Description SummaryThe Engineering Technician will be responsible for the daily execution of assigned tasks and projects for the GE Additive Lean Manufacturing Team specific to pre-production electrical panels and prototypes for additive machines. In the role of Additive Engineering Technician, you will be self-directed working within defined parameters and work plans to meet day to day and short-term objectives of moderate complexity and resolve issues. This role is cross-functional between engineering and supply chain working directly with manufacturing engineering.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities -

  • Building, maintaining, operating, troubleshooting Additive Machines and supporting equipment.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and documentation.
  • Execute electrical and pneumatic assembly per electrical drawings / schematics.
  • Communicate document changes in Eplan (Electrical CAD) and Windchill as appropriate.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting programmable logic controllers.
  • Working with extended team to support machine servicing.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • Follow/ enforce safety protocols within the facility.
  • Proficiently operate Additive Binder Jet machines and perform scheduled/un-scheduled maintenance as required.
  • Systematic trouble shooting of Machines, Subsystems, Facility, Peripheral Equipment, Electric and Pneumatic Setups
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks are consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Equipment and Process Technician Responsibilities:  

  • Conduct experiments and inspections on assigned processes, working with engineers and leadership to develop and document process improvements
  • Maintain Equipment
  • Environmental Health and Safety
  • Shop Cleanliness
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
  • Support preparation of invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
  • Follow technical plans to meet desired manufacturing objectives
  • Adhere to a detailed schedule for a complex engineering and/or manufacturing development work scope
  • Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives

Required Qualifications -

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in industrial panel wiring

Desired Qualifications –

  • Electrical Wiring / PLC/ Software Troubleshooting experience
  • Production or Prototype Industrial Machine Assembly Experience

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required to meet needs of the business
