Engineers - Cyber and Secure Networks
Secure the aircraft thats rewriting the rules of air combat.
Boeing Defence Australia is expanding the Cyber and Secure Networks team on the MQ-28 program in Brisbane, hiring across five roles ranging from hands-on IT system administration to principal-level cybersecurity engineering. The MQ-28 Ghost Bat isnt a concept. Its flying. Its the first military aircraft designed and built in Australia in over half a century. The Ghost Bat is an AI-enabled, uncrewed combat aircraft built to fly alongside crewed fighters and change whats possible in contested airspace.
Behind every Ghost Bat is a network, a system, and a security posture that must be bulletproof. Thats where you come in.

Principal Product Security Engineer Security isnt something you bolt onto an aircraft, its engineered in from the wheels up. As Principal Product Security Engineer on the MQ-28 Ghost Bat Program, youll lead the technical direction of product cybersecurity across the full systems development lifecycle, from concept development and requirements, right through to operations and sustainment.
Youll use mission and systems security engineering techniques to prove the trustworthiness of high-assurance architectures in disconnected, defence-accredited environments. Youll have the ability to influence and the mindset to challenge the art of the possible.
Bring your systems-engineering depth, your command of the ISM, PSPF, DSPF, and NIST, and a qualification like CISSP, CRISC, or CISM.
Own the cyber posture of an aircraft thats redefining Australian air power.
Senior Network Solution Architect - High Assurance Systems Own the design. As Senior Network Solution Architect on the MQ-28 Ghost Bat Program, youll lead the design, architecture, and implementation of multi-site, multi-domain, high-assurance networks. The technologies youll be hands-on with include Cisco networking, next-gen Palo Alto firewalls, and cross-domain gateway infrastructure. Youll lead supplier engagements, shape the solution, build the implementation plan, and set the standard that the rest of the build follows.
DevSecOps Engineer Automate the pipeline that builds the future of Australian air power. As a DevSecOps Engineer on the MQ-28 Ghost Bat Program, youll build, implement, and sustain the secure software development environment behind the aircraft. This includes designing and sustaining CI/CD pipelines and working hands-on with Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab, Ansible, and AI tooling across a secure network. Youll keep the underlying infrastructure and DevSecOps toolchain fast and reliable in an environment where shipping secure code isnt a ‘nice-to-have, its the mission.
IT Cyber Security Officer (ITSO) An aircraft has to be airworthy before anyone will trust it to fly. With an autonomous System like the Ghost Bat, cyberworthiness is every bit as essential as airworthiness.
As an IT Cyber Security Officer on the MQ-28 Program, youll be the person championing cyber security on the ground. Youll be designing and tuning continuous monitoring, performing vulnerability scanning, patch verification, delivering training and leading incident response and root cause analysis.
Where the Product Security Engineers that youll be working closely with build trustworthiness in by design, your mission as the ITSO, is to sustain that security posture once the System is operating.
Youll work in accordance with the ISM, PSPF and DSPF, and have the influence to ensure that cyber is treated as shared responsibility across the engineers and stakeholders that youll work alongside.
System Administrator - High Assurance Systems Want to flex your Windows and Linux skills on infrastructure that must be bulletproof? Join the team behind the MQ-28 Ghost Bat, the first military aircraft designed and built in Australia in over half a century.
Youll administer Windows, Linux, virtualization, and containerization infrastructure across multi-domain, defence-accredited environments where security is essential. If you love solving hard problems and pushing the boundaries of whats possible by asking “why not?”, then this is the role for you.
