Boeing Defense, Space & Security VC-25B (747-8) Certification Integrated Product Team (IPT) is seeking an experienced Certification Engineer to support the VC-25B program. The VC-25B is a Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft (MCDA) program, the scope of work encompasses aspects of both FAA and military certification. The individual in this role will coordinate and collaborate with the Regulatory Administration / Organizational Designation Authorization (ODA) team as well as the program IPTs within Boeing and the USAF Program Office. The position is located in San Antonio, TX and is 100 onsite. Some travel may be required.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Support FAA and Military certification efforts throughout the project lifecycle

  • Assist in facilitating appropriate use of certification process methods and tools

  • Participate in peer-group reviews of designs and create and maintain documentation

  • Integrate with cross-functional teams to address technical regulatory issues

  • Collaborate with peer engineering organizations monitoring progress on certification deliverables required to meet program schedule milestones

  • Coordinate and partner with the FAA and USAF Program Office on regulatory strategies and issues

  • Implement strategic action plans for changes to certification processes and execute those plans through completion

  • Some travel may be required.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position requires the ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): (see required education and experience for this level below)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 1+ years of experience with systems engineering principles

  • 1+ years of experience working with FAA or military type certification requirements

  • 1+ years of experience working directly with the FAA or ODA on type certification projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with project management best practices

  • Experience working with manufacturing and quality to track completion of conformities

Typical Education/Experience: 

Level 3 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
