Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) is seeking a Facilities Plant Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level), to join our team located in North Charleston, SC.

This position at Boeing provides a unique opportunity for individuals to work with an exceptional facilities operation, contribute to the enterprise Engineering & Technology team, and collaborate with colleagues from various technical backgrounds. Responsibilities for this engineering role include managing reactive equipment repairs, supporting construction projects, and identifying ways to improve site infrastructure, with a focus on industrial building systems such as HVAC, steam, compressed air, plumbing, and fire protection. Joining Boeing in this role means you will have the chance to develop new skills, work in a dynamic environment, and play a role in shaping the future of facilities engineering within the company.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides input to infrastructure planning; completes studies; analyzes current conditions and future requirements; recommends capital improvements; gathers and analyzes data; and works with both internal and external customers in order to identify and assess alternatives and impacts

  • Develops routine conceptual designs, final designs, cost estimates and provides maintenance support for the electrical phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds. 

  • Aligns electrical designs with customer requirements, building codes and applicable regulations by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices, and materials

  • Assists others to integrate the activities of multiple engineering disciplines, outside consultants and government agencies.

  • Develops analysis to determine the cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)

  • Ensures accuracy of drawing archives/libraries

  • Supports construction projects by providing input on vendor selection; reviews contractor proposals; interfaces with government/regulatory agencies

  • Prepares and presents project information to ensure compliance with applicable construction documents and jurisdictional requirements and to meet project objectives

  • Uses appropriate resources to produce project drawings, specifications, and permit application packages in accordance with project parameters

  • Translates customer requirements into design options with documents and estimates; identifies appropriate materials, equipment, and services by applying engineering principles and methodology

  • Collects customer requirements; assists in the creation of contract scope; participates in conceptual design by analyzing intended use/occupancy and desired aesthetics, code research, and the development of preliminary design elements

  • Estimates resource costs/requirements, identifies materials, equipment, and services, and develops preliminary project schedule in order to establish project scope

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in  Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry

  • 1+ years of experience reading and interpreting technical documents and/or drawings

  • 1+ years of experience working in a facilities engineering role in a manufacturing

  • 1+ years of experience working in industrial and/or manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • 3+ years of experience with troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLC)

  • 3+ years of experience with lean processes and initiatives

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-Level:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range:

(Associate - Level 2): $78,200 - $105,800

(Mid-Level - Level 3): $96,050 - $129,950
