Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE
Maintains airport facilities for the organization.  Inspects systems and ensures regulatory compliance.  Manages projects and vendors to meet the resource needs of the airports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provides/coordinates maintenance, preventative maintenance and repairs for airport facilities, buildings and grounds.  Inspects, repairs and modifies as needed the facilities and equipment, including heating and air conditioning systems, electrical and alarm systems, plumbing systems and air compressors to ensure proper operation.
  • Solicits bids, selects, coordinates and supervises contracted maintenance services for facility and grounds.  Ensures appropriate approvals and permits.  Manages outsourced maintenance and testing with appropriate vendor.
  • Provides technical assistance and manages preventative maintenance of mission critical equipment; fire suppression systems, Uninterruptable Power Supplies and generators.
  • Administers building security; coordinates access and works with Federal and Local agencies to ensure compliance with federally mandated security measures.
  • Investigates and responds to Occupational Safety and Health Administration regarding questions or issues.  Performs ongoing tests of the life safety systems.  Ensures compliance with regulations and company standards.
  • Works with station managers to address issues and determine resource needs.
  • Responds to all off hours emergency needs for the facility. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.

  • Specialty training beyond high school in skilled trades or engineering technology. 
  • Requires 5 years of experience in facilities / maintenance and state license.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Prefer at least 7 years of experience at an airport location and project management experience.
  • Facility Management Professional or Certified Facility Manager credentials preferred.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Able to write routine reports and correspondence.  Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

DECISION MAKING

Makes decisions daily on use of resources, performance and budgets.  Decisions could require additional expenditure of resources if not sound decisions. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Able to move about the work environment. 
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds up to 60 of the time and up to 100 pounds up to 30 of the time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Work near moving mechanical parts frequently.
  • Work in high, precarious places occasionally.
  • Outdoor weather conditions/Open air hangar up to 70 of the time.
  • Noise level is Loud (examples: metal manufacturing department, large earth-moving equipment)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Able to travel up to 25 of the time, including overnight stays.
