Facilities Equipment Engineer – Lead CuttingEdge Facilities Controls InnovationPDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Facilities Equipment Engineer to support a major leader in the aerospace industry. In this high impact role, you will drive building systems reliability and support a nationwide infrastructure modernization effort focused on operational technology, automation, and connected asset systems.
This is a full time, 9 month consulting opportunity with hybrid flexibility (3 days onsite / 2 days remote) at one of multiple available locations: Charleston, SC; Berkeley, MO; Huntsville, AL; or Ridley Park, PA.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7 AM–4 PM
Pay Rate: Starting at $64.45 per hour
Role SummaryAs a Facilities Equipment Engineer, you will serve as a subject matter expert in building and infrastructure controls, supporting a major enterprise wide initiative to enhance and standardize operational technology systems across multiple sites. Your work will support a critical transformation effort aimed at improving reliability, visibility, and integration of building management and SCADA systems across a large facility portfolio.
You’ll collaborate closely with cross functional teams, provide technical oversight, lead troubleshooting efforts, and contribute to the execution of strategic modernization projects.
Key Responsibilities• Troubleshoot Building Management / Building Automation Systems (BMS/BAS), including controllers, field devices, sensors, and system integrations
• Diagnose and resolve operational alarms, faults, and nuisance trips by identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions
• Support rollout and integration of enterprise level SCADA platforms for building and infrastructure monitoring
• Analyze and resolve communication or configuration issues between BMS/SCADA and enterprise IT/OT systems
• Troubleshoot industrial communication networks and protocols (BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet/IP) using network analyzers and diagnostic tools
• Review, interpret, and update engineering documentation such as control diagrams, network architecture, and commissioning reports
• Prepare monthly performance and incident reports with insights, trends, and action plans
• Coordinate with engineering, facilities, IT/cybersecurity, vendors, and suppliers to support strategic initiatives
• Provide technical direction to contractors and evaluate work for compliance with standards
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple business functions
Required Qualifications• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or engineering technology (electrical/manufacturing engineering preferred)
• 8+ years of engineering experience
• 8+ years of experience as a controls engineer working with BAS, building controllers, and SCADA systems
• 8+ years of experience with modern industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, BACnet)
• 5+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial communication networks using analyzer tools
• 5+ years of experience collaborating with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, and partners
• 5+ years of experience leading or managing cross functional initiatives
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications• 10+ years of related engineering experience
• Experience supporting facility management, production operations, supply chain, or IT functions
• 5+ years of commissioning and troubleshooting building automation or controls platforms
• Experience managing contractors or third party technical resources
• Knowledge of major building controls platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens Desigo, Schneider EcoStruxure, Trane)
• Experience delivering controls projects from concept through commissioning
• Familiarity with advanced analytics or AI based diagnostics tools
