Contract Position
$59.03-$66.10/Hour
Support the digital transformation of defense vehicle systems by integrating System Safety Engineering into cutting-edge hardware and software designs. This position requires a dynamic engineer experienced in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and safety analysis throughout the full product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Analyze customer safety requirements and assess vehicle-level compliance.
Design and support system and software architectures with safety in mind.
Conduct comprehensive System Safety analyses, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA).
Develop and maintain Hazard Tracking Systems (HTS), Hazard Logs, and Risk Registers.
Create and manage Human/System Interface Databases.
Generate and deliver all required safety CDRLs and customer documentation.
Ensure full traceability of safety requirements and mitigation strategies throughout system development.
Apply MBSE principles using tools like CAMEO and support decomposition via the system “V” model.
Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to identify, assess, and mitigate safety hazards.
Contribute to development of System Specification Documents and validate system compliance.
Participate in and conduct peer reviews of safety work products prior to release.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering (or related discipline).
7+ years of relevant experience (or fewer with a Master’s degree).
Experience conducting hazard analysis, safety concept development, and creating safety cases.
Familiarity with key safety standards and guidelines, including:
Strong background in safety requirement management: definition, traceability, validation.
Experience using MBSE tools such as CAMEO Systems Modeler (or similar).
Proficiency with tools such as DOORS, TeamCenter, JIRA, Confluence.
Eligible for U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
Must meet Anthropometric Size Requirements for confined space access.
Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a system safety-related engineering discipline.
Experience developing safety strategies for logical and physical architectures.
Previous experience in Defense, Aerospace, or Automotive safety-critical environments.
Familiarity with High Voltage Systems, Autonomous Software, or Embedded Systems.
Understanding of Human Factors, User-Centered Design, and Functional Failure Analysis.
Knowledge of Agile development and Systems Engineering V-model methodologies.
