The Flight Systems Capability is looking for a Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) Engineering Manager as a member of the Flight Engineering Management Team supporting the development, execution and integration of Phantom Works programs located in Berkeley, MO. The position requires the management of a multi-disciplined team made up of GNC engineers, Control Account Management (CAM) duties, task estimation and execution oversight of projects. On-going interaction with peers, stakeholders and partners as well as the customer and suppliers will also be required. Additional responsibilities include executing the Flight Systems capability plans, policies and procedures and leveraging the BDS-wide Flight Systems domain as a resource to improve execution on programs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of Flight Engineering.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees.

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Work Authorization:

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in an engineering or science related field
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering related role
  • 3+ years of experience working in one of the Flight Engineering technical disciplines, such as Guidance and Control, Aerodynamics, or Propulsion
  • 1+ years of experience leading teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with manned tactical or unmanned aircraft programs and flight systems capability processes
  • Experience developing and administering budgets, schedules and performance standards
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral, along with effective briefing skills
  • Mentoring or technical lead engineer experience
  • Experience in team building and motivating and engaging team members
  • Skilled in advising and influencing employees to meet schedules or resolve problems
