Industrial Engineering Lead

Job Description:

At Safran Seats, we are unique within aerospace, as we interface with both the worlds biggest airlines and airframers alike, with the largest seats portfolio of all seats suppliers. One day you could be liaising with one of the worlds largest airframers, and the next, some of the biggest airline brands around the world!

In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating spanets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

The Industrial Engineering Lead will be required to:-

•tProvide Engineering Support to the Assembly lines and manufacturing unit
•tDrive team to ensure design for assembly/manufacture issues are highlighted and eliminated at every key stage of the programme. Lead lessons learnt sessions of previous design issues at the beginning of projects
•tFacilitate problem solving activities
•tEliminating non-value adding activities – continuous Improvement
•tManage operations configuration tracker
•tSupport production readiness reviews
•tAssist with ergonomic workshops
•tEnsure compliance with the companys health and safety policy at all times
•tPromote and encourage teams on 5S and lean principles, ensure wastes are eliminated during the design of the production process and the team is trained in the application of lean methodology
•tManage APQP & PPAP documentation are compiled and released at the correct level of quality and on time
•tEnsure PFMEAS are reviewed and all actions are closed
•tEnsure tools and equipment requirements are identified and budgeted for and specification documents capture not just functional requirements but ergonomic and health and safety requirements
•tRecognise the need to carry out a route cause analysis to resolve an issue. Organise the required team and ensure the process is duly carried out
•tEnsure departments document are properly controlled and periodically reviewed to keep them up to date
•tEnsure compliance with the companys engineering change procedure
•tCommunicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers and ensure confidentiality of information is maintained at all times
•tManage work load distribution within the team to ensure effective and efficient use of resource
•tLine management responsibility for recruitment, induction for new employees, ongoing performance management, absence, coaching, mentoring and giving feedback / recognition and support for wellbeing
•tCarry out periodic performance development reviews (PDRs) of team members supporting employees with their professional development to achieve their career aspirations
•tEncourage a culture of continuous improvement within the team
•tCoach and mentor younger engineers
•tKeep up to date with current and developing trends in the manufacturing industry

Job Requirements:

Candidate Skills:
- HNC, HND, B.Eng. in Mechanical, Manufacturing or similar engineering OR gained through an apprenticeship in a relevant engineering
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience of leading and developing a technical team
- Experience of working within company and regulatory processes, standards and specifications
- Excellent knowledge of design for manufacture and assembly principles
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Good knowledge and application of Lean Six Sigma principles APQP & PPAP,
PFMEA
- 3D CAD modelling software
- CATIA 3D modelling software
- Ability to interpret 2D drawings
- CATIA 3D CAD modelling software
- Good leadership and team management skills
