Summary of job description
- The System Safety Engineer is responsible for planning, defining and verifying System Safety requirements Safety Analysis artifacts to ensure design integrity and safety for certification.
- The selected individual will work as a member of the engineering team to:
- Ensure effective Systems Safety Engineering efforts are conducted through identification and analysis of potential hazards from concept definition through development, production and product fielding.
- Develop safety management techniques to be employed by the system hardware/software
- Prepare and review Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) documents.
- Perform Safety Analysis, develop analysis reports, and perform validation/verification of safety requirements using Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) 4761 and 4754A for 14 CFR 29.1309 compliance.
- Provide guidance and interface with the Integrated Product Teams on system safety related issues.
- Liaise with Bell’s Certification Delegates and TCCA regarding compliance to the applicable system safety requirements.
- Provide advice and guidance on system safety approach for product upgrades and changes.
- Review of supplier supplied Safety Assessment Reports.
Minimum required qualifications
- At least 8 years of engineering experience in the Aerospace industry.
· Good understanding of ARP 4761 and 4754 and relationship to rotorcraft certification requirements.
- Experience with key artifact development using ARP4761 including the following: PSSA, SSA, CCA (CMA, PRA, ZSA), CMA, FHA, or FMEA.
- Experience with Rotorcraft Systems is an asset.
- Must have strong computer skills using Microsoft office.
- Must possess a high level of verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have good organizational and time management skills.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management
- Functional knowledge in French is required.
- Functional knowledge in English is required for this position, as it involves communication in English with Bell teams outside of Quebec and/or its suppliers, partners, and clients outside of Quebec.
