We’re more than aviation experts, we’re pioneers. We challenge what’s possible. From breaking the sound barrier to advanced tiltrotor systems. Today, Bell is shaping the future of aviation through specialized engineering. And we want you.
The Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) is the Premier Vertical Lift military program in the world. Bells FLRAA aircraft will become the Armys primary assault aircraft for the next 30 years, sunsetting UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and advancing the Armys assault capabilities. The FLRAA program is utilizing the latest in cutting edge technology to expand the United States Army’s tactical advantage in future conflicts. The Bell FLRAA team seeks the top engineering talents from around the industry to design, develop, and deliver the world’s next-generation military aircraft.
Core Avionics IPT, Integrated Modular Avionics Lead Engineer
Within the Core Avionics Integrated Product Team (IPT), a lead engineer for Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) would be a technical lead responsible for guiding the development, certification, and integration of IMA systems in accordance with RTCA DO-297 guidance.
This role involves translating requirements into system architectures, overseeing hardware/software development and testing, ensuring compliance with DO-297 and other relevant standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) is an avionics system architecture that replaces multiple, separate processors and line replaceable units (LRUs) with fewer, more centralized processing units. This approach leads to weight reduction and cost savings, making it a popular choice in modern aircraft, including FLRAA.
What You Will Be Doing as the Integrated Modular Avionics - Lead Engineer:
-
Direct and mentor a team of engineers in the development and implementation of IMA systems.
-
Work with stakeholders to define, document, and manage system requirements, particularly in relation to DO-297.
-
Design and develop IMA system architectures, ensuring they meet safety, performance, and functional requirements.
-
Ensure adherence to DO-297 guidelines throughout the development lifecycle, including safety assessments, verification and validation, and configuration management.
-
Oversee the integration of hardware and software components, conducting rigorous testing and validation to ensure system functionality and reliability.
-
Collaborate with certification authorities to obtain necessary approvals for IMA systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
-
Work closely with other engineering disciplines, including software, hardware, and systems engineering, as well as with cross-functional teams.
-
Possess strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with stakeholder
