Essential Functions

The role will be supporting rocket propulsion materials and process development.

After orientation and training, intern will perform entry-level engineering assignments under direct supervision of other engineers following established procedures and policies.

The positionswill support senior engineering staff and provide experience and familiarization with our programs, processes and products.

Projects may include materials engineering support for propellant development and production manufacturing and test, assisting in the selection of materials and formulations for product application, tailoring of the propellant formulation to the design allowables from literature and experimental data, the performance of material/propellant properties to the design allowables, and the generation of technical reports and presentations to document technical conclusions/findings.

Requirements

Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering (or similar major), and be returning to school upon completion of the assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

3.2 GPA or above

Enrolled in an advanced degree program

Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
