Job Description SummaryThis Lead Engineer role is for the F404 and F414 turbofan programs as a component design engineer within the Inlet and Exhaust Systems engineering team. This includes activities related to the design, analysis and support of inlet devices and afterburner hardware as well as program management including costing and maintaining budget/schedule. In this role, you will utilize your experience and/or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned inlet and exhaust system hardware using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge in mechanical design of metallic and composite engine hardware. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Design Engineering
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance

Desired Characteristics

  • 5 years experience in Design Engineering.
  • Masters Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience with composite materials design and support.
  • In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools such as Ansys, Siemens NX, Finite Element Analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Turbine engine design familiarization.
  • Passionate, can-do, hands-on approach.
  • Ability to guide and influence others.
  • Operational experience working in and managing complex, distributed teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
