Job description

As a Lead Engineering Technician II, you will play a significant role among a group of engineers and technicians in the development and certification of various product lines in the Olathe site.

We develop, own and maintain the facilities and test processes that enable the development, certification and long-term support of the entirety of various aerospace product families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains and improves facilities in aero product lines on the production floor in a way that ensures the lines are ready to execute tests for the current and future Honeywell product lines.
  • Provides constructive feedback on test plans and test approaches
  • Models Safety, HOS, Behaviors and Continuous Improvement
  • Applies knowledge of complex mechanical products test methods to learn test equipment workings and repair.
  • Supports team in establishing solutions to meet requirements for innovative test solutions for new and existing products.

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of directly related experience working as a aerospace equipment Test Technician or 5 years of experience testing complex mechanical systems

WE VALUE

  • The ability to work in a lab environment, occasionally lifting (up to 35 lb.) and working with large mechanical test equipment and systems including powered industrial vehicles
  • The ability to work off-shift occasionally (once sufficiently trained)
  • The ability to work occasional overtime (20 is not unusual)
  • The ability to travel occasionally (<10)
  • Direct experience leading safety initiatives and data-driven continuous improvement
  • Direct experience leading change efforts that benefit the team and other test stakeholders while improving teamwork
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with complex, integrated mechanical systems with emphasis on driving the team to identify root cause as well as contributing causes - and playing a lead role in recommending and implementing corrective actions
  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work independently - toward achieving team, project and organization vision
  • Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions in the face of ambiguous and complex situations
  • Relevant advanced education (or equivalent military experience) supporting work being done at an aerospace product production facility (i.e. A&P school/license)
