The Boeing Companys Satellite System Test Engineering organization is seeking a Lead Infrastructure and Tools Engineer to join the Space Systems Test Infrastructure team in El Segundo, CA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Interface effectively with multiple technical disciplines in a team environment

  • Lead a team of 5-10 Product Security, Software and IT engineers to execute the Infrastructure and Tools team scope of work

  • Provides expertise, leadership and mentoring to the Infrastructure Team

  • Works with the Infrastructure Manager to help transform the existing Test IT Infrastructure and Tools and architect future solutions

  • Develops Product Security processes and procedures and implements them in multiple different test environments

  • Helps develop new software infrastructure as code solutions for a variety of test environments and systems

  • Assists in implementing best practices to manage a network server room

  • Leverages technical knowledge of infrastructure software and product security to maintain, improve, deploy and harden complex test infrastructure

  • Lead the team to develop engineering documentation and processes to reduce waste and maximize repeatability

  • Lead the utilization of DevSecOps approach by applying Ansible, playbook generation, and Packer for Test Equipment deployment

  • Setup of infrastructure tools and environments such as Virtual Machine and Kubernetes/Docker

  • Work in a hands-on lab environment with a variety of different types of test equipment

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years experience with DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, cloud operations and automated deployments
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing projects and/or team
  • 3+ years experience with data center infrastructure and technologies including network and transport services, server clusters and virtualization, and storage
  • Experience working with Systems Security Plan (SSP), Security Controls Traceability Matrix (SCTM) and supporting compliance documents such as Access Control Plan (ACP)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Holds a Security+ Certification
  • Experience managing large server and IT systems
  • Experience deploying Ansible tools
  • An active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance and current Tier 5 (T5)

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Level 4: $121.550 - $164,450

Summary pay range for Level 5: $145,350 - $196,650
