Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Lead Project Engineer (Hybrid) to join our Defense and Space Systems team in Heath (Columbus), OH where we are expanding in system design, development, integration and test of aircraft, missile, weapons, and autonomous Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC).
The InterContinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Minuteman III Guidance Subsystem Support Contract (GuSSC) Sustainment Engineering program looks to you, the Project Engineer, to assume broad ownership of sustainment efforts supported by the local Heath, OH team which supports the Program Work Structure (PWS), Project/task execution, risk management, and interfacing with internal and external customers. You will also provide technical, business, and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans.
Position Responsibilities:
- Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
- Perform functional responsibilities through application of knowledge of Boeing organizations, processes, program plans, policies and procedures, and products.
- Implement budget management principles and practices.
- Utilize Boeing design, production, and build processes (e.g., maintenance access solid, dependability cost model, producibility tradeoffs) to effectively influence product design.
- Apply design concepts and techniques such as concurrent engineering and Design for Manufacture/Assembly (DFM/A).
- Interact across engineering and related departments and disciplines for design, test, software, technology, avionics, operations, logistics, and business.
- Communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions such as electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers, to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.
- Build and document processes that accomplish goals, organize people and activities, separate and combine tasks into efficient workflows, identify opportunities for synergy and integration, and simplify complex processes.
- Understand the product and service value stream.
- Support, lead, and delegate the project teams responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project life cycle.
- Understand interrelationships of positions and activities, including the impact of changes in one area on another and components of systems and plans to accelerate performance and train others.
This position is hybrid, meaning that you will perform some work onsite in Heath, OH. The time worked on site is at the hiring team’s discretion and can change.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim or final U.S. Secret clearance post-start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 5+ years of related experience.
- Experience in engineering project planning or project management.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience working with USAF or US Government.
- Experience with creation, change, and baseline control of complex aerospace electro-mechanical systems.
- Project Management experience including project schedule creation, full project lifecycle, baseline management, and rapidly changing priorities. PMP.
- Experience navigating and applying industry, customer, and company standards to a defined Statement of Work.
- Design for Manufacture/Assembly (DFM/A) experience.
- Experience in Project Estimation.
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range: $114,750 – $155,250
