Purpose of Position

The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and identifying improvements by planning, implementing, and monitoring software framework solutions.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead, identify and develop product specification, system design, development, and system integration for new and existing software applications

  • Develop, test, and maintain multi-tier web applications and windows-based programs/utilities

  • Conduct new technology research and concept specifications to influence the design of individual software components

  • Collaborate with cross-functional areas on products and programs that will contribute to FSIs strategic direction, development, and future growth

  • Develop, test, and refactor pRefactor web application and services to be completely stateless and cloud-ready

  • Monitor, configure, and improve integration with COTS platforms

  • Consult with users on problem determination and provide root cause analysis in a timely manner

  • Provide 24x7 on-call support, after-hours, and weekend work as needed

  • Lead and mentor the daily activities and tasks of the Software Engineering team, providing feedback and guidance where needed

  • Accountable and responsible for the accuracy and completeness of assigned work and results

  • Prioritize and manage workload and communicate issues clearly

  • Complete other tasks as required

  • Travel when required

Job Requirements:
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience
Minimum Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in any software development role
  • Strong experience in .NET platform and MVC
  • Strong experience in Java/J2EE
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • In-depth experience programming in Visual Studio Development Environment utilizing the .NET languages (C#, VB.NET); Programming experience in C++, development of Computer Based Training (CBT), and/or training device system simulation is a plus
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the entire software development life cycle, including requirements gathering and analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation for various development platforms
  • Solid understanding of Web Development: HTML5 and Angular JS or similar JavaScript libraries
  • Knowledge of web service models: SOAP, OData, REST
  • Knowledge of Javascript and JQuery
  • Experience working with Kafka, ElasticSearch or similar systems
  • Experience with 3rd party Javascript libraries such as Angular JS, Knockout JS, JQueryUI, or similar preferred
  • Experience with using SQL Server as a backend preferred
  • Experience with TFS and Git
  • Demonstrated capability to write software routines to support courseware and training devices that include graphics, simulation, animation, and user interaction
  • Experienced in the use and programming of MS-Windows Operating System
  • Solid understanding of testing principles, methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
