Job Summary
Coordinates activities to evaluate and resolve engineering related production problems encountered in assigned area of aircraft manufacturing facility by performing the following duties. This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills as the candidate will be partnering closely with production personnel. Position is the engineering representative for the factory floor transforming design into reality. This position involves daily exposure to factory environment which includes stairs, trip hazards, high noise areas, chemical hazards (breathing and handling), and entering airplanes during their many stages of build.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Reviews production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to maintain current knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities in assigned area.
- Confers with quality control, material, manufacturing, and other department personnel to provide technical support.
- Interprets engineering drawings and facilitates correction of errors on drawings and documents identified during manufacturing operations.
- Investigates reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment, or systems to determine nature and scope of problem.
- Examines, measures, inspects, or tests defective part for conformance to engineering design drawings or blueprint specifications.
- Consults with project engineers to obtain specialized information. Evaluates findings to formulate corrective action plan and coordinates implementation of plan.
- Maintains records or oversees recording of information by others to ensure engineering drawings and documents are current and that engineering related production problems and resolutions are documented.
- Serves as member of material review board to determine disposition of defective or damaged parts.
- Ensures that all assigned work areas are kept clean, orderly, and presentable at all times.
- Applies the 6S principle.
- Complies with all paperwork that governs job duties.
- Analyzes, conducts root cause analysis and develops dispositions for production non-conformances.
- Applies knowledge of design principles to assess and resolve product/process issues.
- Applies engineering principles to research technical, operational and quality issues in support of executing final engineering solutions.
- Identifies documents, analyzes reported problems and communicates deviations that could impact design intent and safety; recommends and manages resolution.
- Develops and implements product/process improvements.
- Supports the product team and participates in design reviews.
- Represents the engineering community from initial build through the production environment.
- Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Cirrus standards.
- Designs interim structural repairs and conducts static strength analysis.

- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) required
- Relevant engineering experience
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Ability to work effectively with others in a cross functional organization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Experience with Windchill PDM and Creo/Pro-E.
- Experience in system validation & verification, including assembling validation, writing system test procedure, conducting integration testing, troubleshooting problem reports.
- Previous MRB authority.
- Hands-on experience with materials and manufacturing processes.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language
- Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Chief Engineers and management peer groups.
- Out of the box thinking to deliver required technical solutions to meet program goals.
- Excellent technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- Able to work with program managers and project leaders to develop and hold accountability to schedules.
- Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project)
