Position Overview

 

The Level III Liaison Engineer provides engineering & technical support for airframe related problems encountered during maintenance and modification of transport category aircraft. Through work performed, develop expertise and knowledge of aircraft structures and mechanical systems related to the airplanes worked at HAECO Americas (HAECO).  Develops expertise on Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Airworthiness Directives (AD’s), Alternate Means of Compliance (AMOC) and related regulatory requirements and processes.

 

  • Provide technical support and guidance to engineering personnel of various disciplines for engineering programs in which HAECO is involved.  Assist and guide Engineers in accomplishing Repair Data.
  • Provide the primary technical response to HAECO Production via the Request for Technical Services (RFTS) system through continued interaction and visibility with Production personnel.
  • Design repair data for aircraft defects that are beyond the scope of the applicable FAA approved repair documentation.
  • Provide engineering data and reports as required to substantiate and document repairs that are dispositioned by HAECO Engineering.
  • Serve as the primary focal point for HAECO customers regarding engineering and technical issues related to in service aircraft.
  • Research and review engineering data (drawings, reports, manuals, etc.) to define aircraft primary and secondary structure or systems to determine the most efficient method of repair.
  • Assist with development of less experienced Engineers by acting as a mentor/resource.
  • Generate labor estimates for engineering tasks as required. Maintain accountability for estimates verses actual expenditures.
  • Peer review minor REO’s of other Engineers for completeness per SEPM.
  • Perform work with adherence to internal HAECO policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate, in a professional manner, with major manufacturers, vendors and other outside agencies to support HAECO’s technical and commercial interests.
  • Support various meetings with customers.
  • Travel away from home facility, as required, to support customer operations.
  • Provide input and suggestions for continuous improvement of various department procedures.
  • Fill in for the Manager of Support Engineering during any absences.

  

What you need: (Requirements)

 

  • BS Degree in Engineering or related scientific field, or equivalent combination of experience and coursework.
  • Six (6) years industry experience in engineering field, preferably dealing in the repair of transport category aircraft.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience utilizing Solid works (or comparable CAD program) with demonstrable proficiency.
  • Must possess knowledge of FAA & EASA regulations, certification processes and related requirements.
  • Must possess comprehensive knowledge of standard aircraft components, materials, fabrication practices, aviation hardware and proper application.
  • Must possess knowledge of engineering principles used in stress analysis and other analytical substantiation techniques & Damage Tolerance Analysis.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of personal computer systems with Microsoft Office.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the use and application of aircraft technical data such as engineering drawings, Specifications, SRM’s, MM’s, SB’s, IPC’s, WD’s, etc.
  • Must possess good oral, written, and organizational skills, and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Position requires travel both domestically and internationally (approximately 20)
  • Familiarity with aircraft industry programs such as Aging Aircraft, Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPCP), Sup plemental Structural Inspection (SSI), Repair Assessment (RAP), Damage Tolerance Evaluation(DTE), etc. for various fleet types.
  • Must possess ability to maneuver around airplanes (i.e. climbing stairs, on work stands, etc.) and in confined areas (i.e. cargo compartments, fuel tanks, E/E bays, etc.).
  • Must also be able to lift and carry 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit and work effectively at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Visual acuity must be a minimum of 20/40 corrected.
  • Must be able to work assigned schedule with minimal absences.

  

Preferred

 

  • Ten (10) years industry experience in engineering field, preferably dealing in the repair and modifications to transport category aircraft.
  • Good oral, written, and organizational skills
  • Good working knowledge of engineering principles, repair and fabrication practices, processes (protective treatment), aviation hardware and basic aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Knowledge of the use and application of aircraft technical data such as engineering drawings, SRM’s, MM’s, SB’s, IPC’s, etc.
