The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (B1.1 or B1.3 or B2) to assist the Crew Chief in being responsible to the Chief Engineer, for the safety, regulatory compliance and operational performance of all Part-145/A8-23 aircraft maintenance activities within the Aircraft Maintenance department and detached locations, essential to the effective delivery of customer contractual requirements. In addition, the LAE will provide support to the team with engineering decisions and provide guidance regarding personal and team development.
Aircraft Maintenance is highly regulated with safety, quality and regulatory compliance being held as the first priority. The LAE must drive and deliver a culture of safety first ahead of schedule, with the highest level of safety and regulatory compliance across all relevant areas. Promoting SHE and Security in relation to the performance of fleet maintenance activities is essential. Operational activities are based around customer requirements; therefore, the preparedness to work additional hours and deploy on detachments in the UK and overseas, is essential to deliver a successful maintenance business.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety first: Operate at Draken in accordance with SHE Technical Standards. Identify where these standards apply to appointed operations/tasks and implement safe systems of work.
- Maintain the overall performance of the aircraft maintenance operation and its personnel at the relevant station, including:
- Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Promote a “Just Culture” regarding safety and occurrence reporting within the business.
- Take responsibility for the maintenance and certification of aircraft and equipment allocated by the Crew Chief.
- Support aircraft operations and maintenance at the main base and detached locations worldwide.
- Supervise and perform ground movements of assigned aircraft.
- Ensure all technical staff under supervision work safely and in accordance with Maintenance Manuals and the Maintenance Organisation Exposition. Certify maintenance performed by the team.
- Ensure correct and timely completion of all aircraft documentation related to maintenance activities under supervision and certification.
- Coordinate engineering activities to enable the team to complete tasks on time and within budget.
- Review team performance and provide feedback to the Crew Chief.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in supervised areas at all times.
- Evaluate existing standards, practices, and procedures for continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Assist the Crew Chief in day-to-day team functions and deputise in their absence.
- Assist the Crew Chief in prioritising tasks and scheduling requirements.
- Assist the Crew Chief in team development.
- Ensure company core values are upheld at all times.
- Achieve optimal aircraft maintenance performance and maintain excellent customer and stakeholder relations.
- Proactively monitor and maintain personal authorisations to ensure recency and compliance.
Experience / skills / qualifications
- Good change management and basic project management skills.

- Security cleared to meet current UK and ITAR requirements.
- Previous experience within an aircraft maintenance department (line, base, or workshop environments).
- Unrestricted CAA Part 66 B1 and/or B2 licence with relevant type rating(s) and/or company authorisations as applicable.
- Proven track record with over 5 years’ experience in an aircraft maintenance environment (essential).
- Good knowledge of regulatory requirements related to aircraft maintenance (essential).
- Ability to work and deliver to deadlines.
- Strong communication, team-building, and partnership skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to motivate people and influence change in line with company values.
- Understanding or evidence of working within a continuous improvement project.
