Role Summary
* In this role, you will work at the intersection of lab, factory, and design to support composite materials fabrication for advanced aerospace platforms. You will apply hands-on expertise in polymer chemistry, composites, and failure analysis to solve production problems, support material and process development, and ensure efficient manufacturing of world-class aerospace products. Education & Job Requirements
* Must have a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
* Must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
* Must be willing to work 2nd shift. Preferred Skills
* Will have a minimum of 1 year of experience working with composites, elastomers, and associated processing techniques.
* Will have hands-on lab experience with polymer chemistry analytical techniques
* Will be familiar with materials such as epoxy, cyanate ester, bismaleimide, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, and adhesives.
* Will have experience with composite failure modes and failure analysis (structural and nonstructural).
* Will have experience preparing technical specifications, reports, and test plans.
* Will be comfortable reading engineering drawings and using Microsoft Office.
* Will have experience creating and delivering technical presentations and briefings.
* Will be able to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment. Job Duties/Functions
* Will work in a professional environment with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver advanced aerospace solutions.
* Will split time between office, lab, and production floor to move ideas from test to flight
* Will influence real products on advanced and proprietary air platforms.
* Will use curiosity and technical expertise to solve meaningful manufacturing challenges every day.
* Will ensure the efficient production of aerospace products, including advanced platforms for Air Proprietary programs.
* Will apply chemistry, physics, and material science to develop and qualify composite materials and processing methods.
* Will provide technical evaluation and material/process support for composite part fabrication.
* Will perform root-cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions for material and process issues.
* Will create and execute test plans, write reports, and contribute to specifications for materials, tools, and processes.
* Will qualify and approve equipment, materials, and processes.
* Will guide material testing in the Materials & Processes Laboratory.
* Will coordinate with Design Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement.
* Will travel to suppliers as needed.
* Will integrate new technologies and promote standardization across product lines.
* Will manage test/audit programs, ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, and incorporate EHS, LEAN, and Quality principles into work.
* Will work full-time 2nd shift and be 100 onsite.
