Mainframe MQ Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description:

DPP is seeking a Senior Systems Programmer for an opportunity in Columbia, SC.

Work location: Partial Onsite – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Onsite and as needed in Columbia, SC
Duration: 11 months
Term: W2 position
Work authorization: Candidates must be eligible to earn a low-level US security clearance (Public Trust).

Position summary:

Resolving test and production issues that arise
Working on customer requests such as creating a new queue, queue manager and changing queue depth
Working on a multitude of projects ranging from installing the latest release of MQ to configuring MQ on servers
Working with error reports and handling multiple tasks at the same time
Internal monitoring such as checking queue depth
Currently working with MQ version 9.3
Standard hours - 8-4:30pm Monday - Friday. Overtime, on call, weekends, and off hours as needed once fully trained

Required technologies:

JCL
Mainframe/host experience
IBM z/OS MQ mainframe
Experience creating/maintaining a queue manager and queues

Nice to have:

CICS
IBM WebSphere MQ
COBOL
Unix and zLinux

Minimum required work experience:

6 years of IT work experience including varied systems programming experience.

Required education/equivalencies:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 12 years without a degree)
