We are looking for you to join our team as a Hardware Engineering Manager 3 based out of Linthicum, MD.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Airborne Multifunction Sensors Division is seeking an Engineering Functional Manager to lead 50+ engineers and scientists in the Airborne Multifunction Sensors Division. This role is intended to be a Section Lead who oversees five labs and key engineering activities, including materials science, chemistry, process development, and failure analysis. The role is responsible for process, cost, schedule, and technical performance, while driving consistency, technical roadmaps, and strategic improvements across Baltimore programs. Leadership, performance, and business growth are central to this position.
Talent Management: Spearhead efforts to identify skill requirements, forecast hiring needs for experienced hires, college graduates, and interns, and develop strategies for recruitment, retention, and team development.
Budget, Investment, and Lab Asset Management: Oversee budgeting, investment planning, and lab asset management to optimize spending, support capital projects, and maintain a safe, efficient lab environment.
Workforce Engagement and Knowledge Building: Foster a culture of engagement and knowledge sharing within diverse teams, supporting new hire acclimation and succession planning through mentoring and coaching.
Digital Transformation: Drive process and performance improvements by implementing new tools and best practices.
Leadership and Results: Demonstrate ethical leadership, innovation, and the ability to deliver results within cost, schedule, and quality parameters.
This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain an active DoD Secret Clearance or the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience, master’s degree with 6 years of experience, Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
A current/active clearance is not required to be considered for the position, but an interim clearance is required to start
Minimum of 8 years of experience within a leadership or management role.
Experience in leading cross-functional teams and serving as an Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL).
Minimum of 8 years of experience working in a dynamic lab environment within defense or aerospace fields.
Demonstrated expertise in hardware design processes and providing support across various project stages.
Proficient in engineering processes and execution, including familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
A current/active DoD Secret clearance
Experience with manufacturing and supply chain processes and operations.
Knowledgeable in recruitment, team management, performance metrics, training protocols, and relevant tools.
Strong ability in tackling technical challenges through detailed analysis, problem-solving, and hands-on execution throughout the project lifecycle.

Primary Level Salary Range: $162,300.00 - $243,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
