Job Summary

Cirrus Aircraft is hiring an Equipment and Furnishings Engineering Manager. Engineers in this role direct and coordinate the Equipment and Furnishings Group in the design, integration, testing, and certification of interior furnishings and seat systems for general aviation aircraft.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • This is a hands-on, technical leadership role. Manage the Equipment and Furnishings Group within the Structures Department. Responsible for progression and coaching of engineers, resource allocation, staffing, and performance reviews.
  • Supports the Director of Structures Engineering with budget planning and control, and resource/project planning. Maintains awareness of issues, key deliverables, and schedule milestones.
  • Oversight of interior and seating product development, specification and process development, and certification.
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert in seating and interiors and provide SME support to all Cirrus Aircraft divisions.
  • Know and apply pertinent sections of Federal Aviation Regulations Part 23. Familiarity with flammability, seat dynamic testing, and FAA certification experience desired.

  • 4-year degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or other relevant engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years progressive engineering experience required in aviation and/or automotive seats and interiors. 4+ years leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft or automotive interior materials and manufacturing processes. Proficient with comfort and ergonomics.
  • Experience in collaborating with industrial designers to incorporate visual brand language/aesthetics into producible engineered products.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft interior and seating certification including flammability.
  • Experience with impact dynamics and occupant protection desired.
  • Familiarity with Design to Cost, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, or Design for Maintainability desired.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, PDM/PLM, and collaboration tools. Familiarity with PTC Creo, PTC Windchill PDM, and Atlassian JIRA tools preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office. Solid knowledge of program management.
  • Ability to communicate technical and program knowledge in a clear, understandable, and audience appropriate manner. Must have the ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Experienced in specification and process creation.
