The Boeing Company is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) to join the Boeing Additive Manufacturing (BAM) Center of Excellence in Auburn, WA. Working with a cross-functional team, the selected candidate will be responsible for planning and overseeing the manufacture of 3D-printed, machined and assembled aerospace hardware from engineering release through delivery. The candidate will review engineering requirements, ensure manufacturing readiness, create detailed work instructions and manufacturing bill of materials for additive and conventional part fabrication, communicate across all disciplines, and improve manufacturing processes.
BAM has developed transformative methods of manufacturing spacecraft and aircraft components using high-performance 3D printing techniques combined with machining and other processing in an integrated manufacturing facility. The selected candidate will support production and delivery of both developmental and production hardware to flight vehicles.
BAM is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Mid-Level Manufacturing Engineers.
Position Responsibilities Include:
Work with Engineering, Quality and Production personnel to develop manufacturing plans including tooling requirements, machining strategies, make vs. buy decisions, cost and schedule estimates. Conduct manufacturing readiness reviews with stakeholders.
Develop, implement and maintain various manufacturing plans, Bill of Materials, work instructions and illustrations to define and document as-built configuration.
Utilize engineering drawings, models, datasets, specifications, standards and procedures to build manufacturing plans and assess producibility.
Provide producibility input to design, manufacturing processes and manufacturing technologies to meet cost and schedule targets
Author and revise fabrication and assembly manufacturing plans in shop floor control planning system, defining operations, work centers, sequence of events, and buyoffs needed.
Oversee execution of plan, interacting with production, support and Quality Assurance personnel daily to provide immediate support when any producibility issues are found.
Pull together cross-functional team to investigate and resolve manufacturing process issues and technical problems using root cause and corrective action (RCCA) analysis techniques
Integrate internal and external suppliers, processes, materials, data and technology to meet technical and delivery requirements
Review data from internal and external suppliers to ensure manufacturing requirements are met
Support cost and schedule estimates for new incoming jobs
Author and maintain standard operating procedures to document consistent and efficient processes
Work under general direction
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
1+ years of experience reviewing engineered mechanical product designs for producibility
1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in any of the following areas: work instruction creation and review, product architecture analysis, shipside planning experience or tooling development
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
1+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering Planning systems such as Product Data Manager (PDM), Common Manufacturing Execution System (CMES) and Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP), or other systems
Experience in additive manufacturing
Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS), dispositioning nonconforming hardware, supporting Material Review Board (MRB)

Summary pay range for associate level: $80,750- $109,250
Summary pay range for experienced level: $96,000 – $130,000
