Manufacturing Engineer V – Aerospace Production Strategy & Leadership
Job Description:

Chipton-Ross is partnering with a leading aerospace manufacturer to hire two Senior Manufacturing Engineer Level 5 professionals for a long-term contract opportunity in Berkeley, MO. This is a 100% onsite role supporting advanced defense and commercial aerospace programs.

If you are a seasoned manufacturing engineering leader who thrives in complex, high-reliability environments and wants to influence production strategy at an enterprise level, this role offers both scale and impact.

Why This Role

  • Influence manufacturing strategy across multiple programs and product lines
  • Lead enterprise-level process architecture, not just individual subsystems
  • Work on mission-critical aerospace platforms with real production scale
  • High visibility, cross-functional leadership role
  • Opportunity to mentor senior and mid-level engineers

Position Overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer V, you will provide senior technical leadership across manufacturing programs, shaping how complex aerospace products are built, scaled, and sustained. You will drive improvements in throughput, cost, quality, and production readiness while guiding long-term investments in automation, tooling, and digital manufacturing.

This role emphasizes strategic influence, system thinking, and leadership across engineering, quality, supply chain, and production organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for manufacturing process development, qualification, and sustainment across multiple programs
  • Define and implement enterprise manufacturing strategies including automation, lean manufacturing, DFMA, and digital thread
  • Lead production readiness planning, risk identification, mitigation strategies, and readiness metrics for program ramp-ups
  • Develop business cases and justify investments in tooling, capital equipment, automation, and workstations
  • Establish standardized, scalable, and repeatable manufacturing processes and best practices
  • Lead complex problem solving and continuous improvement using root cause analysis and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Integrate manufacturing early into design and program decisions; represent manufacturing in technical and program reviews
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical oversight, including review and approval of engineering deliverables and process documentation
  • Apply data analytics, simulation, and model-based methods for capacity planning and flow optimization
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver on schedule and within budget
Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 12+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven senior-level manufacturing engineering experience in complex production environments
  • Regular and reliable onsite attendance required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments
  • Strong background in process qualification, automation, lean manufacturing, and digital manufacturing
  • Demonstrated leadership of technical teams, programs, schedules, and budgets
  • Experience with tools such as CREO, CATIA, MES, DELMIA, FlexSim, ProModel, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with MESci, Model-Based Definition, and Model-Based Enterprise practices
  • Experience with supplier integration, production transfers, and qualification
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Systems Engineering, or Project Management certifications a plus

Education Requirement

Bachelor of Science from an accredited institution in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry. ABET accreditation preferred.
