Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the activities of assigned team of ME’s and Programmers to plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing engineering functions to include aligning staff to support production demands as well as analyzing part manufacturability in determining the requirements/process needed for product development through production. Responsible for the safe manufacture of company products which may represent a broad diversity of manufacturing processes. Responsible for satisfying all quality and productivity requirements in a most cost-effective manner.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervising 3-5 Manufacturing Engineers and 3-5 Programmers
  • Delegate to direct reports or teams to accomplish goals
  • Audit and verification of current routings and programs for optimization
  • Coordinating with tool room and tool makers to ensure work holding are manufacturable
  • Develop and deploy engineering metrics
  • Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and resources to meet goals
  • Champion Six Sigma and facilitate lean initiatives
  • May occasionally perform special projects
  • Participate as a member of the Engineering leadership team and serve as a strong business partner with the Quality and Operations departments
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods while anticipating and reacting to emerging business needs
  • Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, piece flow, and equipment design layout for maximum efficiency
  • Partners with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
  • Partners with vendors to determine product specifications and manage purchase requisitions for equipment, materials, and part in evaluation and support of specification and quality standards
  • Works closely with leadership to other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes and meet goals
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality controls, environmental standards, and costs
  • Understand/use techniques for effective control of delivered quality, cost, and schedule in the manufacturing of Aeospace products
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Knowledge of machines, tools, and tooling
  • Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning and forecasting, material, and equipment resource allocation; leadership and teaming; and production methods
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing work area practices including 6-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and able to instruct others in these practices
  • Consider costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
  • Possess good written/oral communications skills, as well as the ability to present his/her views in a clear and compelling manner
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated project/team management capabilities that can meet aggressive deadlines
  • Strong facilitation skills, conflict resolution, change leadership, coaching, mentoring, and project management skills
  • Interacts well and with a high degree of urgency to customers, and at all levels within the organization, as well as cross organizations
  • Confidence in working with ambiguity and handling complexity

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in Aerospace
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • Experience with CNC machining in a heavy manufacturing environment required
  • Experience in aerospace/fastener/metals manufacturing industries, with strong knowledge of all fastener materials preferred

Level of Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $125,100 to $187,700 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 3X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company&39;s medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
