Master / Bachelor Thesis  within Acoustic Engineering (d/f/m)

Your location

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Our Mission

Develop and support competitive, innovative, mature and safe vehicles, fulfilling regulatory requirements, customers’ expectations and business challenges related to external noise (in flight and on ground) and interior noise (cabin, cockpit and cargo hold).

Subject Thesis

The acoustical comfort for passengers and crew is an important criteria for aircraft cabin design. For future A/C configuration tonal noise components  could lead to a high annoyance. Therefore the possibility to treat tonal noise components with an Active Noise Control (ANC) shall be investigated.

Your tasks and responsibilities
  • Familiarize yourself with the functions and characteristics of an ANC system

  • Plan and perform sensitivity studies  on different parameters e.g temperature, positioning errors, obstacles in the cavity  to evaluate the effect on the  performance of the ANC

  • Therefore you need to modify and run simulation models and perform measurement on an existing ANC system in the lab

 Desired skills and qualifications
  • Enrolled full time student (d/f/m) within Mechanical/ Acoustical or Electrical engineering, physics similar fields of study

  • ideally, most of the curriculum already successfully finished

  • experience with Active Noise control algorithms

  • Knowledge of numerical methods (e.g. FEM)

  • Matlab / simulink experience

  • You demonstrate a positive & collaborative approach and
    a passion for creating a good team spirit 

  • Your open-minded attitude and proactive personality helps you
    to drive change and solve problems

  • You are able to easily communicate in English / German
