Job Title: Materials and Processes Engineer II | Position Summary The M&P Engineer will act as first response for all production related issues pertaining to materials and processes. In this role, the engineer will serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical testing in the quality assurance laboratory, research materials and processes for new and current design, support the production and the purchasing department with shortage issues, and act as liaison between engineering and production. Essential Job Functions Research material and process improvements for a production environment. Support production through the review and disposition of non-conforming material reports. Previous Material Review Board (MRB) or corrective action (CA) experience is preferred. Develop and maintain internal specifications as necessary to define Type Design. Plan and implement laboratory operations and tests on raw materials or finished products to develop material and fabrication procedures, define design allowables, performance limitations, or to ensure their quality. Perform root cause analysis on material and process-related issues. Support Design and Production by determination of appropriate methods for fabricating, inspecting, fastening, and joining materials. Utilize the internal helpdesk system for maintaining traceability of all tasks requested by departments. Interface with production operators, purchasing agents, middle and upper management, and external vendors. Execute and promote problem solving to all levels of the organization. Act in a mentoring capacity to entry-level engineers and interns. Experience with metal joining processes and/or composites, metallurgical processes such as welding and heat treating, and mechanical testing methods are preferred. Experience with 14 CFR Part 23 FAA regulatory requirements is preferred. Perform other related duties as required. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. May be required to train and assist other employees, effectively partnering and collaborating on department and cross-functional organizational initiatives. |
Minimum Position Qualifications | To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited institution. Minimum of 3 years of production support experience, preferably in aircraft manufacturing, as a Materials and Processes Engineer. Must be highly self-motivated with an aptitude for problem-solving, exhibiting outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of Windows based computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook |
