Job Summary
* Develops and applies engineering design methods, CAD tools, theories, and techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems. Remains abreast of the most modern engineering concepts through personal learning initiatives and continuing education programs while applying this knowledge to assigned tasks when appropriate. This position pertains primarily to the Mechanical Engineering segment of flight simulator design/development and is largely project-oriented. Task assignments may transcend several projects/programs simultaneously. Required Skills:
* Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
* Must possess at least 5 years of mechanical engineering experience or experience in the related industry.
* SolidWorks, Creo, or other similar design software, utilizing Model-Based Definition.
* Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of Mechanical Engineering.
* Detail-oriented.
* Must have good oral and written communication skills.
* Must be able to solve technical and other business issues in a logical fashion. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Develops mechanical designs for military training devices, including mechanisms and electro-mechanical devices.
* Interpret customer design specifications and requirements.
* Generates technical documentation describing designs, preferably with experience in GD&T
* Support manufacturing processes and Quality inspection requirements; Develops test plans and unit testing.
* Teamwork, involving close association with peers and management, is essential to coordinating engineering activities in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
* May perform other engineering and non-engineering duties as required by the supervisor.
* Carry out significant and varied engineering assignments requiring general familiarity with a broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields.
* Advise colleagues and other departments on technical issues & problems based on in-depth knowledge of the product.
* Participate in proposal activities by compiling a cost estimate and reviewing the project proposal.
* Ensure project expenditures are within budget and discuss critical project changes or modifications with management.
* Provide mentoring and/or training to junior mechanical engineers and designers.
