The Boeing Design-Build Team is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer based out of Berkeley, MO. Within Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E), the Mechanical Design Engineer supports Boeing test requirements by providing support structure design, lab facility interface design and fabrication/installation support on test articles as they are adapted and installed for evaluation in the lab environment.
Mechanical design work in support of testing can vary from adapters and fixtures that join test articles to test apparatus, to entire aircraft subsystems and their support structure, and everything in between. Design support needed for interfacing with facility infrastructure, which can include supplied pressure, heating/cooling, power, hydraulics, and a full suite of instrumentation, is also part of the design scope of responsibilities. Providing support during fabrication, as well as installation/connection and acceptance/check-out are required to deliver a ready-for-test setup.
The primary focus of this position is support to the Environmental lab testing needs of local Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) programs. Test capabilities within the Environmental labs include vibrational/structural dynamics, acoustic, airflow systems, fuel flow systems, high temperature flow impingement, and environmental control chambers, where temperature, humidity, and pressure are varied. At times, design support to other disciplines of testing may be required to meet the needs of Boeing programs.
