Contract Position
Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and release of mechanical components and subsystems for military ground vehicles, focusing on seating systems, battery enclosures, steering and braking controls, stowage, and electro-mechanical actuators.
Integrate components to meet requirements in human factors, safety, environmental compliance, and survivability (ballistic/mine blast).
Apply engineering principles in mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication of complex brackets and mounting structures.
Direct and coordinate CAD model and drawing development using tools such as NX or Creo.
Support and conduct analysis for the development and implementation of components.
Collaborate across departments to ensure designs meet program requirements and contractual obligations.
Address obsolescence in legacy designs to improve manufacturability and reduce cost.
Provide support to prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting, including root cause and corrective action efforts.
Contribute to design reviews, documentation, and release activities in Teamcenter and Vis Mockup.
Travel up to 10 to other facilities or military sites as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
3–5 years of experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical design engineering.
Proficiency in electro-mechanical system design, fabrication drawing creation, and application of GD&T.
CAD modeling experience using NX or Creo, and familiarity with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup.
Prior experience in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
Knowledge of ground combat vehicles, structured problem-solving techniques, and prototype/production build environments is strongly preferred.
Must be able to work in and around military vehicles and pass the ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirement) test.
Willingness to work occasional evening or weekend overtime as needed.
