Boeing Brazil is seeking a Mid-Career Flight Controls Engineer, reporting to the Flight Control Manager at São José dos Campos – SP office.

We are seeking accomplished, self-motivated and experienced engineers to design, analyze, test and certify flight control systems for large commercial aircraft, as well as to support the production and fleet operations. The flight controls team is currently engaged in the challenging and exciting work of bringing new derivative airplanes into service as well as getting prepared to create the more capable, more efficient and even safer airliners of the future.

The Mid-Career Flight Controls Engineer will join the Flight Control High Lift Integration team to support many of the responsibilities listed below.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Resolve airplane level requirements into system level requirements with time and cost-efficient validation methods

  • Develop system and subsystem architecture alternatives to meet requirements and objectives

  • Participate in system level development, verification, validation, and certification of designs through both laboratory and airplane testing

  • Analyze and compare alternatives (trade study) to rapidly converge on preferred configurations including defining and executing system simulations and development test programs

  • Participate in system certification efforts, including: creation of required certification artifacts; confirming and demonstrating traceability to regulatory requirements; and resolution of regulation conflicts

  • Support global fleet operations including: review flight data, troubleshoot fleet problems and respond to customer inquiries on maintenance activities or safety investigations and, also, respond to regulator queries; participate in resolution efforts to resolve Service Related Problems (SRP); and analyze reported flight incidents to provide recommendations to the Safety Review Board (SRB) for Continued Operational Safety Program (COSP) determinations

  • Generally, these activities require successful cross-functional coordination within and outside of Boeing including with: manufacturing, maintenance, avionics, flight deck and crew-ops, control law, airplane safety, aerodynamics, supply chain management, BCA systems software, suppliers, airline customers, and regulatory agencies

  • For the mid-career engineer it is expected to perform those activities with some level of autonomy

This position is hybrid / telecommuting. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Must have existing rights to work in Brazil

  • Must have a degree in Engineering

  • Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA)

  • Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills in the English Language

  • Experience with Flight Controls Systems Development, which includes design, verification and validation

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

  • Must have a degree in Engineering in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aeronautical/Aerospace or similar

  • Experience with design and analysis of Flight Control Systems, especially in High Lift devices

  • Specification and design of mechanical components such as: gearboxes, electric motors, torque tubes, brakes, torque limiters, ball screws, u-joint, cable rigging.

  • Experience in requirements development, analysis, decomposition, validation and verification

  • Experience with certification process for aeronautical products

  • Experience in requirement management tools (DOORS or similar)

  • Customer and fleet technical support with flight data analysis

A successful Mid-Career Level candidate will have the following capabilities:

  • Ability and willingness to take ownership of work activities to ensure they are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.

Additional Information:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Brazil. Candidates must have current legal authorization to live and work in Brazil. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
