Job Description SummaryThe Advanced Lead Engineer – Military Preliminary Cycle Design will work with Edison Works Project & Engineering to assess, define, and improve GE’s next generation of products. They will model novel & derivative systems, execute design space trade studies, and assess concept strengths and weaknesses to influence GE strategic focus areas, customer requirements & proposal evaluation criteria, and to help prioritize GE technology investments.

Essential Responsibilities

Additionally, in the role of Advanced Lead Engineer – Military Preliminary Cycle Design, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead model development of concept & derivative engines.
  • Prepare presentations for leadership to help shape strategy.
  • Coordinate with a cross-functional team of adjacent disciplines (aero, mechanical, systems) to assess technology capability & maturity.
  • Lead the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
  • Participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and / or tasks.
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
  • Mentor inexperienced team members.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited University or College.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position.
  • Current or ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Clearance required.
  • Only Current Employees within the Edison Works Engineering Division will be considered.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position.
  • Experience estimating weight, cost, and cycle design parameters early in engine development programs.
  • Experience with cycle and component aero design.
  • Experience with NPSS & VCESP.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to guide and influence others.
  • Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in classified environments.
  • Exposure to both military and commercial engine design requirements.
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Systems thinking.
