We are looking for someone to grow into a Spacecraft Operations and Failure Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) Architect as part of a small (~8) multinational and multicultural team who love sharing knowledge. The team is organically growing and working on fascinating and inspiring projects such as Biomass, Vigil and Rovers (Martian and lunar).

This role is a great opportunity to develop your skills by getting involved in all aspects of how the spacecraft works, from initial design to in-orbit support. As the responsible for ensuring that the mission will operate as specified by the customer, you will be a key interface both in the project between disciplines, and to the customer, giving you an exceptional scope of interesting activities.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

You will be responsible for defining how the mission works, in all nominal and failure scenarios; Our activities cover the entire lifecycle of the mission, from R&D activities, through supporting proposals, initial concept and design, to launch and support to in-orbit commissioning activities!

You’ll become the expert on the ins and outs of how the satellite works, and perform activities such as: 

  • Designing the mission operational concept, including requirements analysis, timeline definition, data flows
  • Writing the Spacecraft User Manual, including developing and testing the Flight Operational Procedures
  • Co-engineering with other discipline architects, providing a key interface to the customer, project management and technical lead 
  • Defining the FDIR strategy and implementation, including inputs to the satellite database, and support to the satellite test teams 
  • This role could progress to developing or utilising your team leading skills to lead a team of architects on larger projects, including task organisation within the team, schedule definition, cost and deliverables monitoring etc.

ABOUT YOU

You will have a background in complex technology, such as engineering, physics, science, computer science, telecoms, space, aviation or other similar environments with at least 3 years of experience. 

  • Strong communication skills – you will be working with a wide range of technical and non-technical people from all over the world
  • Systematic approach to problem solving
  • Commercial experience in Space or aviation related industries.
  • Engineering background in one of the following: Space, Electrical, Embedded software, Command & Control, Communications, Robotics 
  • This role will suit someone with an Operations, Systems Engineering, failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), Avionics Engineering, Break Fix or Risk analysis background from a complex technology (science, engineering, aerospace, rail, telecommunications, aviation, software automotive or similar) industry.
