Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is searching for a Principal or Sr. Principal Electrical Test Engineer to support our Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) department. As a member of the SEIT department you’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make our technologies a reality. This position will serve on-site at Sentinel Program, at our Woodland Hills, CA facility. This position will be 100 on-site.

Job Responsibilities

The candidate will serve as an Integration and Test Electrical Engineer for Sentinel Program, requiring the candidate to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.  Daily responsibilities may include:

  • Support the installation, integration, and testing of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and custom equipment used to further research efforts on superconducting microelectronic devices.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate equipment issues to support system build-out and sell-off.
  • Communicate project status to the Integration and Test (I&T) IPT Lead.
  • Collaborate with research scientists and systems engineers to perform system architecture characterization studies on various system components.
  • Design, develop, and implement testing methods for individual pieces of equipment (both custom and COTS) and entire systems.
  • Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.
  • Performing hands-on electrical testing at CCA level test setup and execution
  • Performing hands-on electrical testing at a systems level
  • Incorporating hardware and/or software design changes
  • Documenting & dispositioning hardware discrepancies, pursuing root cause & corrective actions

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Level or a Sr. Principal Level. 

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electrical Test Engineer:

  • 5 Years with Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or qualifying discipline; 3 Years with Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or qualifying discipline, or 1 year with a PhD
  • Active DoD Secret Level security clearance
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, CA
  • Ability to innovate and lead digital transformation efforts
  • Working knowledge in one of the following languages: MATLAB, Python, C, or C++
  • Demonstrated ability to lead out at solving problems and driving all tasks to completion
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, while multi-tasking, and still communicate effectively
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and lead small projects or teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on electrical testing and diagnostic experience
  • Experience in Test script development with HW interfaces
  • Experience with external customer interfacing including meetings, presentations & negotiations
  • Experience performing formal requirements decomposition and/or verification

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Electrical Test Engineer:

  • 8 Years with Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or qualifying discipline; 6 Years with Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or qualifying discipline, or 4 years with a PhD
  • Active DoD Secret Level security clearance
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, CA
  • Ability to innovate and lead digital transformation efforts
  • Working knowledge in one of the following languages: MATLAB, Python, C, or C++
  • Demonstrated ability to lead out at solving problems and driving all tasks to completion
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, while multi-tasking, and still communicate effectively
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and lead small projects or teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on electrical testing and diagnostic experience
  • Experience in Test script development with HW interfaces
  • Experience with external customer interfacing including meetings, presentations & negotiations
  • Experience performing formal requirements decomposition and/or verification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance.
  • Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers.
  • Working knowledge of standard design components: filters, couplers, splitters, amplifiers, etc.
  • Experience with MES, or other digital work instruction platform
  • Experience working with operational hazards such as overhead lifting, Thermal Chambers, and Vibration Test systems
  • Ability to lead out at solving problems and driving all tasks to completion

This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00Salary Range 2: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
