Northrop Grumman is seeking a Reliability Engineer with the ability to obtain a security clearance to work with our Specialty Engineering Team out of Woodland Hills, CA. This is an exciting, challenging and specialized role for a talented, energized and innovative individual who wants to pursue growth in Reliability Engineering.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Perform reliability and maintainability allocations and predictions for avionics and navigation systems.
  • Develop/Analyze Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Built-In Test (BIT) and Testability analyses.
  • Develop/Analyze Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
  • Support Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
  • Perform Failure Analysis and Risk Assessment.
  • Support BIT Design Verification Testing to evaluate BIT effectiveness.
  • Support Maintainability and Testability Demonstrations.
  • Support Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) and Reliability Growth Testing (RGT).
  • Utilize knowledge of documents such as MIL-HDBK-338, MIL-HDBK-472, MIL-STD-2155 and MIL-HDBK-217 F(N2).
  • Develop trustworthy customer relationships via excellent communication, technical insight and successful execution of programs.
  • Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams (IPT), program management, customers, and suppliers for the reliability, maintainability and testability (RMT) aspects of assigned systems.
  • Support identifying, planning and quoting the RMT tasks for proposals.

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Level or a Sr. Principal Level. 

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Reliability Engineer:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related STEM discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or MS with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Reliability and Maintainability disciplines, such as familiarity with MIL-HDBK-338, MIL-HDBK-472, MIL-STD-2155 and MIL-HDBK-217 F(N2).
  • Familiarity with electronic circuit schematics and component failure modes/mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated clear and effective verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact with team members, peers and leadership within NGDS and the customer community.
  • Experience with process improvement.
  • U.S. citizenship
  • The ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance within a timeframe acceptable to management
  • Ability to work full-time onsite at the Woodland Hills, CA facility

Basic Qualifications for a Sr Principal Reliability Engineer:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related STEM discipline with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or MS with 6 years of relevant experience, or PhD with 4 years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Reliability and Maintainability disciplines, such as familiarity with MIL-HDBK-338, MIL-HDBK-472, MIL-STD-2155 and MIL-HDBK-217 F(N2).
  • Familiarity with electronic circuit schematics and component failure modes/mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated clear and effective verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact with team members, peers and leadership within NGDS and the customer community.
  • Experience with process improvement.
  • U.S. citizenship
  • The ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance within a timeframe acceptable to management
  • Ability to work full-time onsite at the Woodland Hills, CA facility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Experience with hands-on RMT analysis and modeling skills for electronic and non-electronic systems
  • Experience calculating critical reliability metrics such as Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time Between Unscheduled Removal (MTBUR).
  • Experience performing Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analysis with Testability Analysis
  • Knowledge of reliability techniques including Weibull analysis, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Monte Carlo Simulation and others.
  • Experience with Reliability analysis software and modeling tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees, management and customers .
  • Experience in the military, government, commercial aerospace industry (e.g. aviation/equipment maintenance, aircraft operations, or commercial industrial technology companies)
  • Knowledge of Reliability Maintainability and Testability disciplines.
  • Ability to read circuit schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Innovative mindset with focus on process improvement.
  • Possess Active Secret DoD Security Clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
