Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS), Bellevue, NE is currently seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Engineer Software. The successful candidate will demonstrate a broad skill set balanced between interpersonal and technical capabilities achieving sustainable quality products. They will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The selected candidate will participate in the entire software development lifecycle with a concentration in software engineering. The candidates will work closely with other software developers accomplishing the following:

  • Complete work independently and as a part of a team
  • Support team in completing necessary software on schedule
  • Solve complex problems through innovative and creative solutions
  • Collaborate with software designers and/or software engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of software systems
  • Generate/upgrade documentation
  • Research government nuclear weapons effects provenance documentation to confirm existing software implementation
  • Perform research on fratricide-related models and conduct excursionary studies
  • Collaborate with the Fratricide Working Group (AFGSC, national nuclear weapons labs, associate contractors, NSWC, and others) and participate in/host TIMs

Basic Qualifications

  • Principal Software Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelor’s in STEM field of study, 3 Years with Masters, a PhD or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Sr. Principal Software Engineer: 8 Years with Bachelor’s in STEM field of study, 6 Years with Masters, 4 Years with PhD or 12 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Current active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance
  • Proven experience with Java. Supplementary experience in MATLAB, Python, Fortran, and C++
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Software Security tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, and Git
  • Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results
  • Demonstrated use of Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) and version control systems such as Eclipse and VS Code
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively within a small technical team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Major/Minor degree in Physics and Math
  • 5 years Fratricide experience.
  • 5 years USSTRATCOM Plans experience
  • Top Secret Security Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
