Principal Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for electrical hardware design and integration, requirements management, component derating, schematic capture, PCB layout oversite, DC-DC power supply design, troubleshooting and support activities through all phases of product development including qualification and validation testing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works to create schematics, operational diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, ensuring electrical design to requirement, supporting electrical testing and troubleshooting. Responsible for owning electrical hardware design and all design lifecycle activities.

In addition, any supporting test articles, fixtures, wire harnesses, and representative loads necessary for design, qualification, or production use (such as acceptance test procedures), are also included in design duties as required.

• Able to identify and mitigate design risks.
• Takes initiative to suggest improvements to product and processes.

• Superb analytical skills in their field and product
• Strong Leadership qualities
• Excellent communication and soft skills
• An expert in electrical design engineering and provides technical guidance to electrical engineers.
• Skilled in assessing electrical design to avoid conflicts in design process.
• Performs conceptual studies, analytical system design and design calculations.
• Detailed engineering to develop various electrical layouts.
• Devises plans for each phase of the project.
• Performs other related duties as required.

PREFERRED EXPEREIENCE
• Experience designing and troubleshooting DC-DC power supplies, including EMI filtering and management.
• Electrical component obsolescence and alternate parts mitigation.


DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Experience with NX & Team Center
• Experience with Altium Design and SVN repositories and clients
• Experience with Aerospace products
• Experience with DO-160 or MIL-STD environmental qualification.
• Experience with Oxygen Systems or Passenger Service Units (PSUs)
• Experience with software within circuit board designs
