Job Description:
The Principal Embedded Software Engineer will partner with Power Distribution & Controls (PD&C) Chief Engineering Office and Functional Leader to ensure technical excellence and investigate the adaption of new technologies in the domain of embedded software domain for critical systems.

Job Description

Technical Leadership:

  • Provides expertise and guidance in embedded software development, acting as a senior technical focal point for complex and critical programs
  • Evaluates and selects new approaches and technologies for critical software development, including Generative AI solutions, data models, tools, and their integration into products and processes
  • Establishes, owns, and drives the implementation of advanced standard work for engineering tools and processes, using FLIGHT DECK best practices and controlled-title design practices
  • Proactively identifies potential technical problems and risks, and leads the development of innovative, practical solutions aligned with project and organizational objectives
  • Performs critical design and code reviews, upholding technical standards, safety, and quality, and driving continuous improvement in design and implementation practices
  • Supports customer reviews from a subject matter expert perspective, clearly communicating technical trade-offs, risks, and recommendations
  • Represents GE Aerospace and contributes to industry forums and committees, raising awareness of critical skills and technologies and strengthening the company’s technical reputation

Delivery & Execution:

  • Drives and supports technical excellence in NPI execution, ensuring embedded software solutions meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) expectations
  • Supports the functional management in delivering work packages assigned to GE Poland, applying FLIGHT DECK to meet quality, cost, and schedule constraints
  • Actively leads the execution of embedded software projects assigned to GE Poland, including planning, risk management, issue resolution, and coordination with global teams
  • Partners with the Chief Engineering Office and design organizations for technical oversight, ensuring consistent engineering rigor and reuse of best practices
  • Defines and drives cross-functional roles, responsibilities, and operating cadence to enable effective project execution and strong interfaces with customers and key stakeholders

Mentoring & Collaboration:

  • Leads the software capability development in the GE Poland PD&C department, identifying gaps and driving improvements in skills, methods, and tools
  • Partners with the Chief Engineering Office to develop capability in line with business objectives, including critical skills related to controlled titles and advanced software technologies
  • Actively mentors aspiring talents, providing advanced coaching and development opportunities, and supporting team members pursuing the CTH career path
  • Strategically leverages and expands networks cross-functionally and across the industry, acting as a key liaison between departments and external partners to drive collaborative success

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Extensive experience and expert knowledge in critical software development, ideally including safety- or mission-critical embedded systems
  • Profound technical leadership experience, including leading complex technical programs and integrating advanced technical solutions and methodologies
  • Proven track record of developing and mentoring talent, with experience providing advanced coaching and supporting technical or CTH career progression 

Desired Characteristics

  • Prior experience with a focus on managing technical programs and designing and developing new products, including resolving complex product issues
  • Prior experience with New Product Development (NPI) processes
  • Prior experience with a Lean management system, preferably including FLIGHT DECK
  • Strong coaching expertise and mentoring skills, with the ability to influence across multiple projects and teams
  • Strong business acumen and customer mindset, able to connect technical and CTH decisions to business outcomes and customer value
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to lead the identification of potential problems and the development of innovative solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to build and leverage strong relationships and interfaces with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
