Join a team that designs, develops, and integrates highly complex systems within Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions (SPS).  You will be integral in creating system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will have ownership for systems at every aspect of the systems life cycle, from the front end of business development through product end of life. You will work across disciplines within the business to drive growth and reach critical business milestones.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Lead Systems Engineer specializing clean energy & electrification applications, you will play a pivotal role in the architectural development of sensing systems.  This senior-level position demands a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and expertise in various engineering disciplines, including mechanical design, electrical design, firmware development, system integration, and functional safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Architectural Development: Lead and contribute to the design and development of advanced sensing systems for clean energy/electrification applications, ensuring robust architectures that meet industry standards/customer requirements at optimum cost. Perform requirement analysis and decomposition, using model-based systems approach to ensure design compliance through verification and validation.
  2. Automotive Functional Safety (ISO 26262): Drive the implementation of functional safety concepts throughout the sensor development lifecycle. Ensure design compliance with ISO 26262 standards and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve safety goals.
  3. Engineering Leadership: Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers involved in mechanical design, electrical design, firmware development, and system integration. Foster a collaborative environment and mentor team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  4. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, firmware developers, functional safety engineer, and other stakeholders to achieve seamless integration of sensor systems.
  5. Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Drive roadmap development and maturity by introducing innovative solutions and contributing to the companys intellectual property portfolio.
  6. Customer Focus: Develop and nurture relationships with key customers. Collaborate with their engineers to identify vehicle-level needs and requirements, ensuring that our sensor systems align with and exceed customer expectations.
  7. Project Management: Assist with project leaders to develop work breakdown structure, risk mitigation and project planning to ensure successful and timely delivery of sensor systems. Provide regular updates to leadership on project status and risks.

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • 6+ years experience developing hardware for critical applications

WE VALUE

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or PhD) from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) from an accredited institution
  • Proven experience in the lifecycle of automotive systems development
  • Ability to quickly analyze, incorporate, and apply new information and concepts
  • Working knowledge of functional safety requirements (ISO 26262)
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design, electrical design, firmware development, and system integration.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and inspire cross-functional global teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Project management experience, with a track record of delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget
  • Flexibility in dealing with rapid changes in project requirements and manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Individuals who are self-motivated and can take on complicated tasks, make autonomous decisions, and consistently take the initiative to get things done
  • Experience or expertise using engineering tools such as Matlab, Excel, Mentor, Creo PTC, Powerpoint
